Electrode Seals – Thermoseal

Construction:
The two major types of flexible seals are braided and wrapped. In general, braiding provides greater longevity and sealing performance. However, there are applications where a wrapped
Thermoseal, properly designed and manufactured, can provide superior performance.

Braiding involves securing outer jackets onto an inner core. In general, increasing the number of jackets will provide a more durable seal.

Description

Thermoseal – Long Life Electrode Seals

Electrode seals should:

  • Contain fumes,
  • Maintain the desired atmosphere within the furnace,
  • Control heat loss,
  • Accommodate a greater amount of vertical and lesser amount of lateral electrode movement.

This requires the correct quality seal:

The industry suffers from the provision of low grade products masquerading as electrode seals. Don’t be fooled, as fast failure of low grade electrode seal shifts the costs to down-time replacement.

The Thermolag route is different: we design for your application. We work with you to get the best results. You become our project. We can help you with the correct quality checks and train you in all possible yarn-based electrode seal designs. We can also assist in monitoring the seal’s performance over time.
