Thermolag’s Area of Expertize
The company manufactures and trades in industrial textiles and converts these, into products for thermal insulation and protection, in a wide range of industrial application. Our woven and non-woven industrial textiles are well suited to rugged South African industrial conditions, where thermal insulation and protection is required. These textiles are relatively cheap and, can be easily shaped to suit the exact application.

S-Cloth
This product is a superior protection material. It is designed for extremely high temperatures either in terms of direct heat, radiant heat or molten metal splash. It is ideal as a furnace curtain and can be used in sleeving protection and insulation pillows. See Material Safety Data Sheet for further information.
Cloth Silicone Coated
Suitable for elevated temperature conditions where weathering is also a factor. White fibreglass side can be exposed to temperatures of up to 500°C for short periods of time. The grey sides to temperatures of up to maximum of 200°C for short periods. The grey side will also withstand direct flame heat for short periods. This material is not suitable for strong acid or alkali conditions.
Twisted Rope Glass Reinforced
Ceramic fibre products are made from a melting of aluminium oxide and silica. The resultant fibres are white, cotton like in appearance and show a high thermal stability, low conductivity of heat and good chemical resistance.
As pure ceramic staple fibre cannot be processed to textile products, organic fibres are added as a spinning aid. The organic share of cloth, tapes and ropes is between 15% and 20%. These organic fibres will burn off on first thermal contact and will result in an ignition loss of up to 15%.

Round Braided Rope Glass Reinforced
Thermoceram braided ropes exhibit chemical stability resisting attack from most corrosive agents. Exceptions are hydrofluoric acids and phosphoric acids and concentrated alkalis. It also resists oxidation and reductions. If wet by water or steam, its thermal properties are resorted upon drying. No water of hydration is present.

Paper
General Information
Thermoceramic Paper – Ceramic fibre is made from a mixture of silicone dioxide (SiO₂) and aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃), both in a very pure form which is melted in a furnace. This molten mass is then converted into a fibre. The filament diameters average 3 microns. For the production of yarn mixing the ceramic fibres with an organic fibre is necessary (viscose/ rayon). The yarn can be reinforced with glass (borosilcate E-Glass continuous filaments)/ cotton or metal cores.
Exhaust Insulation
The Thermolastic wrap is applied in layers according to the temperatures involved normally 3 layers. For higher temperatures it is recommended that at least one plain insulation layer (knitted E- Glass without reflective film) is applied against the hot face with the reflective layers applied later.
Thermoshield
The cloth is corrosion resistant, can withstand higher temperatures and can handle large multi-plane movements caused by thermal stresses. Expansion Joints using this material have been successfully used in Power Generating Plants, Smelters, refineries, flue gas ducts, wet and dry scrubbers, chemical plants, precipitations, bag-houses and fans.
Thermoshield has been shown to outlast conventional Expansion Joints materials while offering excellent cost/performance benefits over the life of the Expansion Joints.
Thermoboard
Thermoboard experiences mechanical weakness in the temperature range of 200°C to 350°C.
This is a result of the chemical reaction in the binders. The thermal characteristics are not affected. The binders solidify in this range and the board retains mechanical strength above this temperature level. Users are advised that the Thermoboard should not be exposed to continuous operating temperatures in this range without mechanical support.
Fire BLankets
General Information
Thermolag Fireblankets are for use in extinguishing fires in commercial, residential and industrial settings.
The use of a fireblanket is recommended for small, localised fires where a blanket can shroud the fire, and where the use of other extinguishing devices is not appropriate.
VM17 Insulation
Product Description
VM17, a mouldable high-temperature insulation is needed wherever hot gasses or fluids have to be passed without interaction with the environment by means of pipes. The Insulation system VM 17 is the optimal solution for this demand.
Quick Stick
Product Description
Quick Stick is a steel reinforced putty durable enough to last a lifetime. It has the tensile strength of 6000 pounds per square inch when cured. This means a repair made with a one inch piece of Quick Stick could lift the weight of 3 automobiles. Cured, it is a very hard material. The proprietary blend of materials include steel reinforcement as well as the highest grade of epoxy, because of this it has a technical rating of D-87 hardness when cured.
