It also resists oxidation and reductions. If wet by water or steam, its thermal properties are resorted upon drying. No water of hydration is present.

The resultant fibres are white, cotton like in appearance and show a high thermal stability, low conductivity of heat and good chemical resistance. As pure ceramic staple fibre cannot be processed to textile products, organic fibres are added as a spinning aid. The organic share of cloth, tapes and ropes is between 15% and 20%. These organic fibres will burn off on first thermal contact and will result in an ignition loss of up to 15%.
